We test our electrical insulation tapes for durability according to strict industry specifications. We measure this in tensile strength, to test that it can support up to 20 pounds of force before ripping. This specification is one that is very important to electrical installations that would require the tape to keep its structure under a heavy load.
We also put our tapes through high-voltage testing: they can withstand up to 600 volts while maintaining their insulation properties. Tests such as these can be crucial in situations where the operation of high-value machinery or equally costly large-scale construction projects are at stake and a failure could have severe financial consequences. Our tapes have a performance range from -18°C up to 105°C which as mentioned, is essential on roofs that are often subjected to extreme weather conditions. Similarly, heat resistance is also assessed by subjecting the tape to high temperatures over time to check/control the adhesive and material flexibility.
Durability also means resisting to the environmental factors like moisture, chemicals and UV exposure. We do this by putting the tape through up to 1,000 hours of harsh environmental conditions over a lengthly test period that guarantees long-term reliability in real-world use cases. One example is a multinational telecommunications company who found our product to last 25% longer on outdoor installations thereby affecting the maintenance cycle directly and having an impact of lower overall costs.
Peel Adhesion is another important test. We evaluate the adhesion of the tape to PVC, rubber, and metal under some conditions as well. We make sure that our tape will stay put and not move or curl over time by guaranteeing you a minimum peeling force of 1.5 (N/cm). Tape used in the automotive and aerospace industries, to help with vibration dampening (which we discussed earlier) has proven successful as well, with some of those companies claiming their alternative improved adhesion over time through flex use.
